Shipping Information Section Blank After Upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

Symptoms

On the Contact form, Shipping Method and Freight Term fields are located under the Address section in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. These fields are now located in the Shipping Information section in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.

After upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 the Shipping Method and Freight Terms are still located under the Address section instead of the Shipping Information section. This leaves the Shipping Information section empty after upgrade.

Cause

This is due to the merge applied during upgrade process. Shipping Method and Freight Terms are located under Address section in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. Since this is an upgrade, the location in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 takes precedence.

Resolution

This is by design. You can customize the Contact form to remove the Shipping Information section or add the fields you want into the Shipping Information section.

To customize the Contact form:
  1. Click Settings, click Customizations and click Customize the System.
  2. Expand Entities, expand Contact and click on Forms.
  3. Double click the Main form to customize it.
  4. Select the Shipping Information section and click Remove button on the Ribbon.
  5. When you are done customizing the form, click Save and click Publish.
