FIX: Line Item ordering may not work correctly when you use the UpdatePurchaseOrderProperties method to partly update an order in Commerce Server 2009

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you use the UpdatePurchaseOrderProperties method in Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 to update only some line items in an order, Line Item ordering may be changed. Therefore, the components of Commerce Server that depend on Line Item ordering may not work correctly.

For example, shipments in Commerce Server will point to the line items in a shipment by using an index. The index is based on the sequence of the line items in an order form. When you update an order, the sequence of the line items may be changed so that the indexes on the shipments point to an incorrect line item.

Cause

The issue occurs because the LineItemOrdering column is updated when the line item is changed. However, the LineItemOrdering column should be set only when a line item is created and should not be updated when the line item is changed.
