FIX: Performance decreases on a Commerce Server 2007 SP2 or Commerce Server 2009 site when you periodically run a Transaction Data Import DTS task

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Microsoft Commerce Server 2009.
  • You run a Commerce Server site that includes a data warehouse resource.
  • You create a Transaction Data Import DTS task to incrementally import the transaction data of the Commerce Server site into the data warehouse of Commerce Server.
  • You schedule the Transaction Data Import DTS task to periodically run. For example, you run the task every 15 minutes.
In this scenario, the performance of the Commerce Server site may decrease.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Transaction Data Import DTS task has to run the select * from csv_<TransCategoryName> query multiple times.

The number of times that the query runs depends on the size of the transaction data in the database.

Notes

  • TransCategoryName is a placeholder for the CategoryName column of the TransCategory table in the transactions database.
  • This issue may affect the performance of the Commerce Server site while the query runs against the Transactions Resource database. The Commerce Server site is affected because the Commerce Server site also uses this database resource.
