ACC2000: Startup Properties in an ADP Are Not Preserved When You Restore a Project from Visual SourceSafe

When you are working with a Microsoft Access project (ADP) and Microsoft Visual Source Safe (VSS), and you click Get Latest Version command or the Create Database from SourceSafe Project command, some of the startup properties of the database are reset to their default values. Whatever values were stored for those properties in the VSS project are lost.

This article assumes that you are familiar wit using the capabilities of Visual SourceSafe. For more information about Visual SourceSafe, please refer to the "Visual SourceSafe User's Guide" or Visual SourceSafe Help.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

1. Create a new Access project, and name it Prop.adp.
2. On the Tools menu, click Startup.
3. In the StartUp dialog box, set the following options:
   Display Status Bar: False
   Allow Toolbar/Menu Changes: False
4. On the Tools menu, point to SourceSafe, and then click Add Database to SourceSafe.
5. Click Yes to close the database in order to add it to Visual SourceSafe. Log on to Visual SourceSafe, add the Prop project, and then click Yes to create it.
6. Create a new Access project, and name it LostProp.adp.
7. On the Tools menu in Access, point to SourceSafe, and then click Create Database from SourceSafe Project. Log on to Visual SourceSafe when you are prompted, select the Prop project, and then click OK.
8. When Visual SourceSafe informs you that it has completed the operation successfully, click OK, and then click Close.
9. On the Tools menu, click Startup.
   Note that the Display Status Bar property and the Allow Toolbar/Menu Changes property are now set to True.
