The TotCost field in the ItemCost table does not show the correct cost when Production Completion is completed for a bill of material in Microsoft Dynamics SL

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Bill of Material in Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 Feature Pack 1 (FP1):
  • You previously applied the correction for issue 21758 that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 2408710. For more information about issue 21758, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
2408710 The cost of a finished good that is created in "Bill of Material" is less than expected in Microsoft Dynamics SL
  • You enter a new bill of material in the Bill of Material Maintenance (11.250.00) screen for an inventory ID that is cost layered.
  • You include overhead costs and routings on the bill of material.
  • You change the value in the Transaction Date box in the Production Entry (11.010.00) screen to a date other than the current date, and you complete the production entry for this bill of material.
In this scenario, you notice that when you use Microsoft SQL Server to review the finished good in the Itemcost table, the value in the TotCost field differs from what you expect. You expect the value in the TotCost field in the Itemcost table to be the sum of all costs that are associated with the bill of material.

  3. Open the IN Integrity Check (10.990.00) screen.
  4. Click to select the following check boxes:
    • Validate Inventory
    • Rebuild Inventory Item History
    • Rebuild Item Quantities and Costs
