In Office 2003, you cannot open a file that is on a WebDAV share when Office is running on a Windows 7-based computer

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. Microsoft Office 2003 is installed on a Windows 7-based computer. The FrontPage Server Extensions are disabled in Office 2003.

Note FrontPage Server Extensions are used to open a file on a Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) share.

You use the Open dialog box in Office 2003 to try to open a file that is on a WebDAV share. However, you receive the following error message:
An unexpected error occurred: Not enough memory available to complete the information. Close other programs to make more memory available, and then try it again.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Windows 7 file information notes
