Error message when you integrate a task from Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 into Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007: "Project Server Queue took too long to process"

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Project Controller in Microsoft Dynamics SL Feature Pack 1 and in Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007:
  • You open an existing integrated project in Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007.
  • You insert a blank gridline between several tasks and then save and publish the project.
  • You create a new task in the Task tab for the integrated project in the Project Maintenance (PA.PRJ.00) screen.
  • You click to select the Microsoft Project check box and then click Save.
In this scenario, you notice that the integration from Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 Feature Pack 1 (FP1) into Microsoft Office Project Profession 2007 does not finish. Additionally, you receive the following error message in the MSDSLEventLog file:

DSL_2_Project Project: Queue Record:937 Project:EN888888 Error - Project Server Queue took too long to process
JobState: Failed
Total time slept: 2.00 seconds Project still checked out

Workaround

Workaround 1

Remove the blank gridlines from the integrated project in Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007.

Workaround 2

Create the new task in Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007 instead of integrating the task from Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0.
