“Word cannot establish a network connection” error after you resume a computer from standby in Office Word 2007

Registry key information

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
   
   
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\office\12.0\common\internet
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Dword Value.
4. Type NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds, and then press ENTER.
5. In the Details pane, right-click NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, click Decimal, type number, and then click OK.
   
   Note This registry key sets the time, in seconds, that Word waits for the network to resume. For example, if you type the value 15, Word waits 15 seconds for the network to resume.
   
7. Locate and then select the following registry subkey.
   
   
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\TrustCenter
8. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Dword Value.
9. Type EnableLogging, and then press ENTER.
10. In the Details pane, right-click EnableLogging, and then click Modify.
11. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    
    Note This registry key creates a log file that can be found in the following folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OFFICE\TCDiag
    
12. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
    
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\Internet
13. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Binary Value.
14. Type ResumeErrorCodes, and then press ENTER.
15. In the Details pane, right-click ResumeErrorCodes, and then click Modify.
16. In the Value data box, type little-endian byte order, and then click OK. For example, if the 800704cf error message is logged in the log file that is mentioned in step 11, type CF 04 07 80 as a value for the ResumeErrorCodes registry entry.
17. Exit Registry Editor.
