Error message when you start the Microsoft Dynamics Project Integration Service for Microsoft Office Project Connector: "Could not start the Microsoft Dynamics SL Project Integration Service on Local Computer"

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Office Project Connector in Microsoft Dynamics SL:
  • You populate all required fields on the Microsoft Project Connector Setup (PA.MSP.00) screen.
  • You click Save.
  • You click Start to start the Microsoft Office Project Integration Service for Microsoft Office Project Connector.
In this scenario, when you start the Microsoft Office Project Integration Service for Microsoft Office Project Connector, you receive the following error message:

Could not start the Microsoft Dynamics SL Project Integration Service on Local Computer.

Cause

This problem occurs because the service user was not granted "Log On as a Service" permissions on the workstation that is running the Microsoft Dynamics SL Project Connector service.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, grant the "Log On as a Service" permissions to the service user. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Services console.
  2. Right-click Microsoft Dynamics SL Project Integration Service.
  3. Select Properties, and then click the Log On tab.
  4. Retype the password in both Password boxes, and then click Apply.
Note You should see the following message:

The account DomainName\UserID has been granted the Log on as a Service right.
