The option to install the Project Connector Extension is not available to be selected when you install the Microsoft Office Project Connector server components

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Office Project Connector:
  • You run the installation for the Microsoft Office Project Connector server components.
  • When you run the installation, you select the server components that you want to install.
In this scenario, you notice that the option to install the Project Connector Extension is not available to be selected. However, you expect to be able to install the Project Connector Extension component.

Cause

This problem occurs when you install the Microsoft Office Project Connector server components on a server that is not also hosting the Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 website.  

The Project Connector Extension option will appear only if you complete the installation on the server that is hosting the Project Server 2007 website. 

Note In a multiserver environment, the Project Connector Extension must be installed on the workstation that is hosting Project Server 2007. However, the Project Connector Integration Service can be running on any server.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the Project Connector Extension on the workstation that is hosting the Project Server 2007 website.
