Uninstalling the video driver on a computer running Windows 7 may result in a black screen

It is not recommended to uninstall your video driver in Windows 7. Doing so may cause the computer to boot to a blank screen.

A video driver based on the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) is designed to switch to VGA mode when the primary display driver is removed. However, in some instances this may not occur after removing the display driver and rebooting the computer. Instead, a black screen appears during boot and the Windows desktop does not appear. To work around this behavior try pressing the Windows+P key on the keyboard to switch display modes. If this does not resolve the issue, reboot your computer again to initialize the VGA driver.

This behavior may be prevented by having a second video card in the computer with a display attached to it.
