Duplicate serial numbers are incorrectly allowed into different warehouse bin locations at the same site in Microsoft Dynamics SL

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Inventory in Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0:
  • You have an inventory ID that has a serial number in a particular site and warehouse bin location.
  • You create a Return in the Inventory Issues (10.020.00) screen for the same inventory ID that has the same serial number as the inventory ID that is already in inventory.
  • You return this inventory ID to the same site but to a different warehouse bin location than the inventory ID that is already in inventory.
In this scenario, you notice that you do not receive a warning message when you return the duplicated serial number to the same site if the serial number is in a different warehouse bin location. You expect the system to prevent you from creating the duplicate serial number for the same inventory ID at the same site.

Resolution
