In Dynamics AX withholding tax for customer is not going to the sales tax Authority in the Brazilian Localization layer

Symptoms

When using the Withholding tax payments form to settle withholding taxes that are due for a given period, sales taxes are being calculated and shown in the Withholding tax payment report, but they are not being transferred to the sales tax Authority’s account.

Cause

This behaviour is happening due to the 'Withholding tax settlement period' setup.

For withholding tax settlement periods configured with a Sales tax code field, sales tax transactions are created automatically (you may use this configuration for withholding tax calculated in customer payments). If no sales tax code is specified, a vendor transaction is created automatically if a vendor account is specified at the tax authority on General ledger > Setup > Withholding tax > Brazil > Withholding tax settlement periods.

Resolution

To have the expected behaviour you must have the Sales tax code field cleared (General Ledger > setup > withholding tax > Brazil > withholding tax settlement periods > Overview tab) and assure that a vendor account is specified at the tax authority on General ledger > Setup > Withholding tax > Brazil > Withholding tax settlement periods.

More Information

The tax calculated for customer payments can be transferred to the Sales tax ledger using the Withholding tax payment form and then settled using the Sales tax payment form. The withholding tax calculated in the settlement period configured for the withholding tax will be transferred as a sales tax transaction for the sales tax configured in the Withholding tax settlement periods form.
