HTTP error messages are displayed in English on a client computer when you host a website on a non-English version of a Windows Vista-based or Windows Server 2008-based computer

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 to host a website on a computer that is running a non-English version of Windows Vista or of Windows Server 2008.
  • An HTTP error message is posted when a user visits the website from a client computer.
In this scenario, the HTTP error message is displayed in English. However, you expect that the display language of the error message uses the language from the computer that hosts the website.

For example, you host a website in a French version of Windows Server 2008. On a client computer, you receive the 503 HTTP error message in English that resembles the following:
503 - Application request queue full.
In the example, you expect that the language of the error message would be in French.

Note This issue occurs only when the HTTP error messages are returned by HTTP.sys. The HTTP errors that are customized by IIS are not affected.

Cause

The issue occurs because of an error in HTTP.sys.
