You configure a client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 to use a Windows Server 2003 shared network printer to print. However, the print job intermittently fails. When this issue occurs, you do not receive an error message on the client computer. And, the print job is not printed on the physical printer. If you open the printer properties then Ports tab from the client computer, the Ports may be grayed out or blank.
Note To recover the print functionality on the client computer temporarily, you can restart the Print Spooler service.
