The pop-up windows of a RemoteApp program may be hidden in Windows Server 2008 R2 and in Windows 7

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install the Remote Desktop Session Host role service on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You publish a RemoteApp program on the computer.
  • You connect to the RemoteApp program from a remote client computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7.
In this scenario, some pop-up windows of the RemoteApp program may be hidden. Therefore, you have to manually change the focus to view the pop-up window.

Cause

This issue occurs because Rdpshell.exe incorrectly filters some pop-up windows. Therefore, these pop-up windows are hidden behind the parent window.
