Static in audio playback if PC goes to sleep while recording the audio in Sound Recorder

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • On a PC running Windows 7 or Windows 8 with Connected Standby, you are using Sound Recorder to make an audio recording.
  • The PC goes to sleep (S3) while the recording is in progress. The recording will stop while the system is in S3.
  • The PC resumes and the audio recording resumes.

In this scenario, when the audio is played back, you may notice noise or static in the recording. This only occurs in the audio recorded after the PC was resumed.

Cause
