Symptoms

When you use the Microsoft Exchange Server Event Scripting Service with a custom script, it may stop with the following error message:
Event ID 5
Description
An unexpected MAPI error occurred. Error returned was [0x80004001].

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
