Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

To apply this hotfix, you must be running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2. Additionally, you must have Utilities and SDK for Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA) installed.
Installation information
When you install this hotfix, select one of the following options:
- Repair or reinstall
- Repair
When you install the hotfix, you may receive a dialog box that contains the following message:
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package ‘setup.msi’ in the box below
To resolve this issue, perform a full installation of the hotfix. To do this, follow these steps:
- Download Utilities and SDK for SUA from the appropriate website, depending on your operating system:
- Click the Setup button on the Wizard and wait for the Unzip process to finish.
- Save the Setup.msi file to a permanent location.
Note If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, you can find the file in the following path:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Temp\2\WZSE0.TMP
- Cancel the Wizard, and then type the path of the permanent location directory in the dialog box that you received before.
- Click the OK button. The hotfix will now install successfully.
Registry information
To use the hotfix in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.
