- Start the Exchange Server Administrator program.
- Click the Configuration object, and then double-click the Information Store Site Configuration object to bring up its properties.
- Click the Storage Warnings tab. By default, the schedule is set to "Once a day". Change this setting to Always, or to whatever setting you want. When Storage Warnings is set to "Always", the information store checks approximately every 15 minutes for storage limits.
- Close the Information Store Site Configuration page.
- Under the Servers object, click the Exchange Server computer you want, and then on the File menu, click Properties to bring up the properties page for that server.
- Click the Diagnostics Logging tab, open MSExchangeIS, and then click Private.
- Click Storage Limits, and set Logging to Maximum.
- Click the Apply or OK button to apply the logging setting.
After this is done, the following event IDs are displayed in the Event Viewer application log:

- Start Exchange System Manager.
- Under Adminstrative Groups, locate System Policies, right-click System Policies, click New, and then click Mailbox store policy.
- In the New Policy box, click Limits, and then click OK.
- In Properties box, on the General tab, type the name for the policy.
- On the Limits (policy) tab, type the storage limits, and set the Warning message interval. By default, it runs daily at midnight. Click OK.
- Right-click the policy that you created, click Add, and then add the mailbox store that is to be controlled by this policy.
- Under the Servers object, right-click the Exchange 2000 server that you want, and then click Properties.
- Click the Diagnostics Logging tab, open MSExchangeIS, and then click Mailbox.
- Click Storage Limits, and set Logging to Maximum.
- Click the Apply or OK button to apply the logging setting.
