You may experience intermittent audio glitches when you play audio files or event sound on a computer that is running Windows 7

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You play a WAV audio file in Windows Media Player on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 7. Or, you play an event sound from an application. In this scenario, you may experience intermittent audio glitches that cause unexpected noise during playback.

This problem may also occur when you stream audio content in Windows Media Player, in Windows Internet Explorer, or in other third-party applications. You may also experience this issue when you play or stream audio files (or other content) that access the computer's hard disk. For example, you may experience this issue when you view a video-capture file and you play event sound at the same time.

Cause

This audio glitch is caused by a hard page fault on a sample rate conversation routine that is called by the Audioeng.dll process during audio streaming.

This is a known issue on systems that are running Windows 7. This issue is currently under investigation.
