Previously typed URLs do not appear in the address bar of Internet Explorer 8 when the Favorites folder is redirected in Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, and Windows Sever 2008

Symptoms

On a computer that has Windows Internet Explorer 8 installed, you redirect the Favorites folder to a network location. In this situation, URL addresses that you type inside the address bar of Internet Explorer 8 are not added to the list of previously typed URLs. Therefore, previously typed URLs do not appear when you open the drop-down list in the address bar.

Note This issue only occurs in the following operating systems:
  • Windows XP
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows Server 2008

Resolution

Note To resolve this issue, install this hotfix together with hotfix 982063. Hotfix 982063 is described in the following Knowledge Base article:

Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 file information notes
