ACC2000: Cannot Use Legacy Database Templates with Access 2000

If you have versions of Microsoft Access earlier than Access 2000 on the same computer that you install Microsoft Access 2000 on, you may see templates used for creating legacy databases when you create a new database in Access 2000. When you try to use a database template from an earlier version of Microsoft Access in Access 2000, you may receive the following error message:

Database templates built for earlier versions of Microsoft Access are not compatible with, nor can they be used in Microsoft Access 2000.

Only use Access 2000 database templates in Access 2000. To create a database by using an Access 2000 database template, follow these steps:

1. Open Microsoft Access 2000.
2. In the Microsoft Access dialog box, under Creating a new database using, click to select Access database wizards, pages, and projects.
3. Click OK.
4. Click the Databases tab.
5. Select any of the database templates displayed, and then click OK to build it.

The New File dialog box is an interface common to all of the Microsoft Office 2000 program. Other Microsoft Office 2000 programs can create documents by using earlier versions of a document template; however, Microsoft Access 2000 cannot.
