"System Message 6674" error message when you create a return for a serial tracked inventory ID in the Issues (10.020.00) screen in Microsoft Dynamics SL


Symptoms

  Consider the following scenario in Inventory in Microsoft Dynamics SL:
  • You create a return in the Issues (10.020.00) screen for a serial tracked inventory ID that has the issue method set to User Enterable and the serial assignment set to When Received.
  • You click the Lot/Serial button to open the Lot/Serial Assignment (10.070.00) screen, and then you enter a value that has never existed in the system in the Lot/Serial Number box.
  • You release the return batch.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message: 

System Message 6674 - "Lot/Serial number does not exist for this Site and Warehouse Bin Location combination."

Workaround

To work around this problem, use the Adjustments (10.030.00) screen or the Receipts (10.010.00) screen to return the serial tracked inventory ID to the inventory.
