FP2000: No Record Sources or Tables Found When Using an OLEDB Provider for SQL

Symptoms

When you use an OLEDB provider for SQL Server to connect to a SQL Server 6.5 database, the database connection verifies correctly, yet FrontPage does not find any record sources in the Database Results Wizard or in form properties when using Send to Database.

After confirming that the database has tables and data, the Database Results Wizard and Save to Database Form properties still do not recognize the tables and record sources.

Cause

If users specify a data connection that uses an OLEDB provider to talk to a SQL Server (version 6.5 or earlier), calls to retrieve schema information do not work until the Instcat.sql script is run on the SQL Server.

Resolution

To work around this problem, a SQL Server administrator needs to run this script before FrontPage can read the information in the SQL database.
