Exchange 2010: Get-ReceiveConnector warns that an Exchange 2007 connector is corrupted and in an inconsistent state

Symptoms

In an Exchange 2007 / Exchange 2010 mixed organization:

A user creates an Exchange 2007 receive connector that allows an application server to relay anonymously while supporting ResolveP2 (to resolve GAL names instead of SMTP names). This receive connector is configured so that the Authentication tab has the Externally Secured (for example, with IPSec) checkbox enabled.�

When the�user checks his receive connectors on his Exchange 2010 Hub Transport server via the Exchange 2010 Exchange Management Console, the following warning dialog is shown:�

The object <E2K7 Server>\<E2k7 Receive Connector Name> has been corrupted, and it's in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors happened:

Warning:
You must set the value for the PermissionGroups parameter to ExchangeServers when you set the AuthMechanism parameter to a value of ExternalAuthoritative.

Cause

Permissions that are new to Exchange 2010 are being used to evaluate an Exchange 2007 object.�
