FIX: The Analysis Services process stops responding when you use the writeback feature in SQL Server 2005 SP3

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

Symptoms

When you execute two concurrent writeback commit transaction operations in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, the Analysis Services process (Msmdsrv.exe) stops responding. For example, the issue may occur when you use the What-If Analysis feature in Excel to connect to an Analysis Services cube.

Cause

The issue occurs because there is an undetected deadlock between two concurrent writeback commit transaction operations.
