Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0-based application that contains a domain-neutral assembly.
  • The assembly is not in the list of domain-neutral assemblies that are compatible with the AppDomain.
  • The assembly calls interop methods.
  • You run the application on a computer that is running a 64-bit version of Windows.
In this scenario, a System.IO.FileLoadException exception is thrown and you receive the following error message:
Loading this assembly would produce a different grant set from other instances. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131401 (SECURITY_E_INCOMPATIBLE_SHARE))
