FIX: W3wp.exe process crashes when you use the ARR module in IIS 7.0 and in IIS 7.5

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario: 

  • You use the Microsoft Application Request Routing (ARR) module on a computer that is running Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 or IIS 7.5.
  • You enable the request consolidation feature in an ARR server farm. 
In this scenario, the W3wp.exe process crashes. Additionally, some error messages that resemble the following are logged in the Application log:
Faulting application name: w3wp.exe, version: 7.5.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bd0eb
Faulting module name: requestRouter.dll, version: 7.1.797.0, time stamp: 0x4bbb1d6a
Exception code: 0xc0000005
