An outgoing ASN document (856) contains duplicate container IDs and duplicate quantities for an inventory item in Microsoft Dynamics SL

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You work in Order Management and Advanced Shipment Management in Microsoft Dynamics SL 6.5 Service Pack 3 (SP3).
  • You create a shipper that contains a lot-numbered inventory item.
  • You create two or more containers in the Container Builder (50.002.00) screen for the shipper for the inventory item.
  • You assign the same lot number to each container that you create for the inventory item.
  • You create an outgoing Advanced Shipment Notice (ASN) document (856) by using the Create Outbound ASNs (50.402.00) screen.
In this scenario, you notice that there are duplicate container IDs and duplicate quantities for the inventory item when you review the text file that is created by the Create Outbound ASNs process. However, you expect the Create Outbound ASNs process to create only one line in the text file for each container that you create.

Resolution
