Hours that are posted from a Microsoft Dynamics SL timecard do not update a project correctly in Microsoft Project Professional


Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Project Connector in Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • In the Project Maintenance (PA.PRJ.00) screen, you create a new project. Then, you click to select the Microsoft Project check box to integrate the project with Microsoft Project Server.
  • You open the new project in Microsoft Project Professional.
  • You add more than one resource to the project in Microsoft Project Server. These resources are Microsoft Dynamics SL employees that have been integrated into Microsoft Project Server.
  • In the Std Task Form view on the project, you modify the resource assignments in Microsoft Project Professional.
  • In Microsoft Dynamics SL, you post time cards to the project for the employee resources that are assigned.
When you do this, you notice one or more of the following symptoms:
  • The hours that are posted from the timecard do not update the project for the employee resources in Microsoft Project Professional.
  • The hours that are posted from the timecard are duplicated for the employee resources in Microsoft Project Professional.
Additionally, if you review the PJPENTEMXREFMSP table, you notice duplicated Assignment ID GUIDs in the Assignment_MSPID field.

Hotfix information for Microsoft Dynamics SL

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
