Symptoms

When you are choosing which Internet Explorer 5 or 5.5 components to install or download, you may receive the following error message:
Windows Update Setup

This item is required by one or more of the components you have selected to install.

Cause

The following components are required when you select the "Install Minimal, or customize your browser" option:
  • Internet Explorer 5 Web Browser
  • Offline Browsing Pack

Resolution

When you choose a custom installation, you must allow the two components listed above to be installed.
