Summary

This article describes how to use the Auto Thumbnail option.

Use the Auto Thumbnail Option from Pictures Toolbar

  1. On the Insert menu in Page view, point to Picture, and click ClipArt.

NOTE: If you have a picture in the current Web that you want to convert to a thumbnail, click From File.
  2. Click the picture. The Picture toolbar appears.
  3. To use the Auto Thumbnail option, the picture that you insert must meet the following criteria:

    • The image must be bigger than the auto thumbnail size that is selected (there are several size choices; on the Tools menu, click Page Options, and then click the Auto Thumbnail tab for details).
    • The image must not be an animation (for example, an animated GIF).
    • The image must not be linked already to something.
    • The image must not have any imagemap hotspot hyperlinks.
Note: If the image does not meet all of the criteria, the Auto Thumbnail option will be unavailable (dimmed).
  4. Click the Auto Thumbnail button on the Pictures toolbar.
