Symptoms

When you attempt to open or insert a password protected Microsoft Word document, you may experience either of the following symptoms:
When you attempt to insert a Word document using the File command on the Insert menu, you receive the following error message:
The format of the file filename does not correspond to the selected file type. Please select a different file type and try again.
When you attempt to open the file with FrontPage using the Open With command, nothing happens.

Cause

FrontPage cannot convert password protected documents.

Resolution

To work around this problem, remove the password protection from the document.
