FP2000: Text Box from Data Access Page Appears As Scrolling Text Box

Symptoms

When you use Microsoft Access to create a field with the text box property in a Data Access Page and then open the page in FrontPage 2000, the text box is converted to a scrolling text box.

Cause

When creating the Data Access Page, Microsoft Access inserts a TEXTAREA tag for the text box. Microsoft FrontPage 2000 renders the TEXTAREA tag as a scrolling text box.

Resolution

When you open an Office document in FrontPage, allow the originating application to open it.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the General tab.
  3. In the Startup section, select the Check if Office is the default editor for pages created in Office check box.
  4. Click OK.
