FP2000: Download Time Doesn't Reflect Files Used in Hover Buttons or Banner Ads

Symptoms

When you view pages that have hover buttons or banner ads, the page may take longer than expected to load in your Web browser.

When you view the download time of the page in FrontPage, the time is much shorter the actual length of time it takes to download and view the page.

Cause

The download time for ActiveX controls and Java applets with or without images is not reflected in the download time.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

More information

The download time will reflect images, text, and other objects inserted into the page; however, it does not count Java applets or ActiveX controls in the calculations of download times.
