Symptoms

When you right-click the sub-folder of any web, point to Task, and click Configure Server Extensions in Microsoft Management Console (MMC), the New Sub web Wizard is started.

Cause

When you configure the server extensions for a folder, you are creating a new sub web. The New Sub web Wizard will guide you through the process of configuring server extensions for the folder you chose.

More information

If you want to change sub webs into webs, you can right-click a folder in any web that is listed in the MMC, point to Task, and select Configure Server Extensions.

Although the folder already exists, you are making the folder into a new sub web. The New Subweb Wizard guides you through the process of configuring the server extensions for the folder you selected. The folder becomes a new sub web during this process.
