Symptoms

When you publish, you are prompted to overwrite the global.asa file. After you click Yes or No, some of your database connections do not exist on the server, and pages using these database connections do not work.

Cause

Each Web uses only a single global.asa file. If, for some reason, the file on your local computer and the file on the server contain different database connections, only the settings in one global.asa file are maintained, depending upon if you elected to overwrite the existing global.asa file.

If the settings in the global.asa files differ, the changes are not appended to the destination Web.

More information

If you overwrite the existing global.asa file when you publish to the server, you may need to re-create the database connection on the server.

For more information about creating database connections, click the Index tab in FrontPage Help, type the following text
create a database connection

and then double-click the selected text to go to the creating database connections topic.
