Symptoms

You have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. When you try to download firmware to an IEEE 1394 Firewire device or when you try to update the firmware on an IEEE 1394 Firewire device, the download or update process fails.

Note This problem does not occur on computers that are running other Windows operating systems.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a time-out issue. When you try to download firmware to the device through a 1394 connection, the download process times out after 60 seconds. Even if you set the time-out value to be greater than 60 seconds, Windows times out the download process after 60 seconds.
