When you adjust the zoom ratio of the worksheet to less than 80% (depending
on the type and size of font that you are using) or resize the font to less
than 8 points, Microsoft Excel switches to using Small Fonts, Smalle.fon,
or Smallf.fon, depending on the video driver in use in Microsoft Windows.
Currently the Euro font is not supported for font sizes smaller than 8
points. However, you can add a registry entry that will cause Microsoft
Excel not to switch to using Small Fonts when zooming the worksheet.
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.To use the Registry Editor to disable the Small Font substitution, follow
these steps:
- Close any programs that are running.
- On the Start menu, click Run. Type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, expand the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Excel\Options
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. With New Value #1 selected, type FontSub, and then press ENTER.
- On the Edit menu, click Modify. In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, click Decimal under Base. Type the number 0 (zero) for Value. Click OK and quit Registry Editor.
- Start Microsoft Excel.
When you zoom your worksheet to 60%, Excel will not substitute a Small Font and the euro character will appear as expected.
