Data labels in a PivotChart which have number formats other than General may lose that number formatting when published as a Web page.

This problem occurs when you do the following:
- You format a PivotTable data range with a number format other than General.
-and-
- You display data labels as values on a PivotChart linked to that PivotTable report.
-and-
- You click Save as Web Page on the File menu, click Publish in the Save As dialog box, click to select Add interactivity with Chart functionality, click Publish and view the resulting published Web page chart in a browser.
The PivotChart data labels get their number formatting from the linked PivotTable cells, but this formatting is not retained in a chart saved as a published Web page with interactivity.

To work around this problem, manually format the data labels before publishing the chart by following these steps:
- Right-click a data label in a series to select all data labels in that series, then click Format Data Labels.
- On the Number tab, click the number format you want.
- Make sure the Linked to source check box is cleared and click OK.
- Republish the chart.NOTE: If the format you want is already selected due to cell formatting in the PivotChart, you still must click the format name before you click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem does not occur with PivotCharts that you save as HTML formatted files or publish as Web pages without interactivity.
If a chart other than a PivotChart is published as a Web page with interactivity, data labels with number formatting received from cell links will retain that formatting.
