Symptoms

When you run a macro that uses MS Excel 4.0 Macro (XLM) code, it takes more time to be completed than you expect.

Cause

This behavior occurs when you switch to another program (or task) in your operating system, so that Microsoft Excel is no longer running as the foreground task.

NOTE: Some Excel add-ins, such as Solver, use XLM code internally. If you create a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro that calls one of these add-ins, you may also experience these symptoms.
