Symptoms

In Microsoft Excel, when you enter a value of -1 as the Height or Width argument in the OFFSET()worksheet function, the function returns the same value as if +1 had been entered. The expected return is the following Excel error:
#VALUE!

Cause

This behavior occurs because the Height and Width arguments in the OFFSET() worksheet function must be a positive number because Excel recognizes only the absolute value of the argument.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, do not use negative values in the Height or Width argument of the OFFSET() worksheet function.
