Symptoms

When you save a workbook as HTML, and then open it in a Web browser, the border around a group of cells may appear jagged, or, in some browsers the border may not appear at all.

The following table shows the border effect you may see in different browsers:
If you have this browser The border looks like this
   ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Internet Explorer 5 Jagged or uneven
   Internet Explorer 4 Correct
Internet Explorer 3 Does not appear
Netscape Navigator 4 Does not appear
Netscape Navigator 3 Does not appear

NOTE: The border only appears correctly in Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.

Cause

This problem may occur if you overlay a text box containing no border and no fill color over a group of cells that have a border. The jagged or uneven effect occurs because the border of the text box doesn't line up or overlay exactly with the border applied to the table cells.

Workaround

To work around this behavior, make the text box larger than the area of cells containing the border. Make sure you do not cover the border of the cells with the border of the text box.
