When you open a workbook that was created in an earlier version of
Microsoft Excel, and the workbook contains an xy (scatter) chart, the x-axis chart scaling may have changed so that the axis displays a greater time period.

This behavior can occur when the maximum value on the Scale tab in the Format Axis dialog box is increased when you open the file in Excel 2000.

To work around this behavior, change the value of the x-axis back to its original maximum value. To do so, follow these steps:
1. | If the chart is embedded, click the chart to select it.
2. | Click any time that is displayed on the x-axis to select the x-axis.
3. | On the Format menu, click Selected Axis.
4. | In the Format Axis dialog box, click the Scale tab.
5. | Change the value in the Maximum box, and then click OK.
