Summary

This step-by-step article shows you how to use custom toolbars from Microsoft Excel 5.0 in Microsoft Excel 2000. When you upgrade Excel 5.0 to Excel 2000, built-in toolbars that you customize in Excel 5.0 and custom toolbars you create in Excel 5.0 do not appear in Excel 2000. Excel 2000 does not convert Excel 5.0 toolbars that are stored in the Excel5.xlb file.

Use Custom Toolbars from Excel 5.0

To use toolbars that are stored in the Excel5.xlb file, follow these steps:
  1. Start Excel 2000.
  2. On the File menu, click Open.
  3. Locate the Excel5.xlb file, and then select it.
  4. Click Open.

Excel does not open a workbook, but it does load the toolbars into random access memory (RAM).
  5. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click the name of any toolbar that you created in Excel 5.0.
NOTE: If the Excel5.xlb file contains one of the built-in toolbars, the toolbar name that appears on the Toolbars menu is followed by an asterisk. For example, the standard toolbar appears as "Standard*".
