To work around this problem, follow these steps:
1. | Select a cell in the region of the worksheet that contains the query.

2. | On the External Data toolbar, click the Refresh Data button.

The worksheet is populated with the result set from the query. The
worksheet is populated with the result set from your query the next time
that you open the file. However, the query is not updated the next time you
open the file.
NOTE:
The Refresh data on file open and
Remove external data from worksheet before saving commands are not available in versions of Microsoft Excel before Excel 98. As a result, these features are not available when you save the file in the
Microsoft Excel Workbook file format.
