XL2000: Chart Is Reduced to a Small Size After Formatting the Legend

When you change the formatting of a chart in Microsoft Excel 2000, the chart may be reduced to a very small size.

This behavior can occur when the following conditions are true:

�	You create a chart. -and-
�	You manually reposition the legend on the chart by using the mouse pointer. -and-
�	You move the legend to the corner by clicking Chart Options on the Chart menu, clicking the Legend tab, and then clicking Corner under Placement.

NOTE: This behavior occurs more often when you format a round chart, such as a pie chart.

To work around this issue, do not choose the corner placement of the legend after you manually move the legend on the chart.

You may be able to resize the chart in some cases. To resize the chart, follow these steps:

1.	Click once on the chart's plot area. Eight resizing handles appear around the plot area.
2.	Drag the resizing handles until the chart is resized.

NOTE: In some cases, you must re-create the chart to work around this issue.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Excel 2000.

The amount by which the chart is reduced depends on the amount of data the chart represents. The more data that must be represented, the smaller the chart appears.
