Symptoms

When you save a workbook to a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site while in Microsoft Excel 2000, the option to Always create backup does not work. However, after you save the file a second time, a file by the following name is created
Backup of File name.xlk
where File name is the name of the file you are saving.

Workaround

To create a backup to an FTP location, save the file to the FTP site and then immediately click Save As on the File menu and save the file with a different name. The first file you saved is the backup, and the second file is the working copy.
