Undo and redo are unavailable after using the Auditing Tools tools or after pasting an Excel object in another Office program

Symptoms

When you use Microsoft Excel 2000, use the auditing tools, or paste a range of cells into a Microsoft Word document as an Microsoft Excel worksheet object, both the Undo and Redo commands on the Edit menu are unavailable (appear dimmed). Additionally, the Undo and Redo buttons on the Standard toolbar are unavailable. The ability to undo or redo actions previous to using the auditing tools has been cleared.

Cause

This behavior occurs when you paste a range of cells into a Word document as an Excel worksheet object, or when you use any of the following auditing tools:
Trace Precedents
Trace Dependents
Remove All Arrows
Trace Error
